One random day my door just stopped dinging on it's own! Of course it was the same time I decided to grab a pair of scissors & cut whatever cord I though was connected to the dinging.

I noticed when you open the door all of the way there is a black tube thing that goes from the car to the door. (if you're sitting in the passenger seat it's inside the door on the right). It has worn away & the wires kinda show now (I have a '98).

Anyways, inside of the tube thing is a PINK & BLACK CORD. I simply pulled the cord a little bit & it stopped the dinging!! It does not really affect the car alarm but I would be careful cutting it.

Yes that's the same pink/black wire that's up below the switch. I never hooked mine back up. When I got the car I could have it on accessory and not have any dinging. Then it started, It drove me nuts. I did notice when I pulled the pink/black wire with the black plastic connector it had a brass pin. I'm wondering if I bend the flat pin a bit it may not activate the ding. So you got it, Good. I keep a spare key (No chip) with me just in case. Lol
