Last year I put my 3:73s in with a little help from a friend. I had a little whine and it seemed jerky when I would get on and off the gas. Well a few weeks ago I was at my local Ford dealer doing some work and I started talking to one of there techs that was replacing gears in a truck. He said the lash should only be .005. He said if I don't have a way to measure it that by hand .005 can barely be felt.

So today I pulled it all apart and reshimmed the gears. Man what a difference. It's quiet and smooth. I just figured I'd put this info up for anyone else wondering about how much lash should be there.
