Default Squeaky Motor...

Hi, I've had this annoying squeaking from my engine lately when I start it up. It lasts until the engine is passed 180*. I've changed belts and a few pulleys but it's still squeaking. When I spray that belt dressing on it, it made it 10x worse and now you can hear it from far away! Any ideas on how to narrow this down? I took the belt off and moved all the pulleys but none of them squeak moving by hand.

It's a Thump rrr racing tensioner so I doubt it though it's always possible. I actually wouldn't mind if it was since it has a lifetime warranty. How would I test this?

Only thing you could really do is get another one and put it on

only thing I could think of that you might could try is while it's running, take and put a little more tension on the belt by hand on the tensioner and see if it goes away, or slightly loosen the belt. Just need to be very careful

No, no and no. Do not even attempt to add tension by hand to a running engine. First off, consider the amount of pressure a tensioner is applying even when weak. The 5-10 lbs you will add to it with a lack of leverage will tell you nothing. Let alone the blatant risk of losing fingers!

I say its the serpentine belt.
Every year Im replacing one on my GT that causes squeaking.( thank god for a 3 year warranty on belt)

Autozone know what Im there for every year (BTW its a Dayco belt)

Also a safe way to test belts and pully squeak is to spray them with water.
If noise goes away then you found your problem.

I would say that this kind of noise is most commonly the belt it's self.
Then next would be the tensioner.
Then would be the alternator front bearing.

Im not sure how true this is, but i picked up a new dayco belt and a dayco rep told me their belts are made of a kevlar compound now and if for anyreason they get antifreeze or oil on them there gonna squeek forever afterwards.

I can replace the belt and it will go away for about a week or two (since the belt isn't fully stretched yet), after that it squeals again.
