Default Mach 1 Auto & Manual motor differences?

I have an 01 GT with a piston slap and it's driving crazy so I plan to swap out the motor within the next month. I was looking to upgrade to a Mach 1 motor but I am being asked if my car is a manual or auto. I have found a motor locally and it came from an auto Mach 1. I honestly can't see why it would matter but i figured I would check on here first. Is there a difference where if I buy one from an auto Mach 1 and try to use it in my manual GT that it won't work.

I'm pretty sure that the Mach 1 engine for manuals had a forged crank which should be an eight bolt crank. However, the auto used a non forged crank which may or may not have a six bolt crank. I can't recall which crank an 01 GT used.

01 GT should be a 6 bolt flywheel IIRC. As for the differences, bluepony is correct. Manual = forged crank 8 bolt, auto = cast crank 6 bolt.

Ok, so if I decide to go with a Mach 1 motor I should find an Auto?

I didn't either until I started looking for a motor. They are expensive so I want to make sure I buy a motor that will work with my GT.

even if the cranks are different. Just get a flywheel that matches.. theyre all the same tooth flywheel. and you'll be set.
