Default New hood insulation question.

Recently got a new ram air type 2 hood for my 96. I've never changed the hood but I realized that the OEM hood has that extra piece on the hood that prevents water from hitting engine. How do I replace that on the new hood? The insulation comes off but the new hood has no holes in it for the insulation. Is it necessary to put it on the new hood? And how exactly have other people done this? Any info would be great

The lining is mostly a fire deterrent. Most aftermarket hoods don't use them or have a way to attach them.

So it's fine to leave the vents open as is? I'm just worried about that engine getting wet and rusting. I dont really drive it in the rain anyway but i guess im just being overly cautious

Yeah, you'll be just fine with them open. I've run several open vent style hoods in the rain/snow without issues at all.

Your engine gets wet from the bottom all day long. It's fine.
