Hi guys. I have a 96 GT with some beat up rims and bad tires. I was looking to get a new set and was wondering how wide and how large in diameter should I got in the front/back. I also am unsure of the offest. I'd like to go about as wide as possible in the rear to get some more traction. I've lowered the car about 1-1.5" with Eibach spring and don't want to rub.

Any help would be appreciated. Also if you live in the Detroit area and are looking to sell a set, let me know. Thanks

I don't have exactly what you are asking for but..........

I have a set of tires/wheels from my '97 Cobra. They only have 50k miles on the rims and have been garaged always and not driven in snow. So they are in good condition.
I have a son who lives in Ann Arbor and visits often. So he could transport them for us if you have any interest.

9" wide up front and 10" out back is pretty common and will look good. As far as diameter, 17" or 18"; either should work fine for you.

If you're really interested in traction though, you should consider upgrading the rear suspension components.

^ wheel hop is suspension, where wheel spin is tires

What kind of tires "were" you running before they became bald? Tires should be chosen by the needs of the driver, yet decided by the budget... what are they?

I had 275 BF Goodrich Super Super Sports on the rear with stock 96 GT rims.

I just got a set of 17x9 1995 Cobra R rims that were powder coated black. they look real good on the car. The wheel wells were looking kind of funny after I lowered the car, but these new rim s really fill them out good. The tires on them are bald so I'm definately looking for some new ones. the Super sports just seemed to spin. Any suggestions?

I really recommend the staggered setups from AM. The 315's in the back look sooooo good. The Black Bullitts are kind of overdone, but they still look amazing. 2003 Cobra R's will look great too. Whatever you do, if you get them from AM, get the NITTO's. Amazing tires for a few dollars more than the Sumitomos.

I have zero wheel hop with barely any wheel spin outside of launch on the 10.5's out back, and I have the stock lower control arms with no quad shocks.

i have 20x8.5s in front and 20x10s in rear with 1" spacers on a 96 gt...i think 94-98s look ugly with front tires flush rear tires way inside

Yeah its mostly for street use. Ever since my jeep got stolen, the mustang has been my daily driver.
