Default 2003 GT Check engine light

I purchased a 2003 GT 5 sp about two weeks ago. I have since replaced the throttle body with a 70mm and also added a C&L mass air kit w/ K&N filter. My problem is my check engine light came on after about 15-20 miles of driving with the new modes. I attempted to reset the computer by disconnecting the battery and following the procedure in the manual. The light went out, but returned about 20 miles later. Could it be the new mods or maybe something else? The place I purchased the mods advised it could be that the computer needs to "learn" the new mods.

Please help. I would like to go ahead and purchase Bassani X-pipes, but I am hesitant due to the above problem.

Oh, the Bassani X-pipes I plan to purchase are the ones with cats. Any other suggested mods would be great; as there are so many, I don't want to get lost.

l don't think the x-pipes will affect the car. Try getting an aftermarket computer chip. Visit this website: http://mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/dtcodes.htm

You can use it to pull trouble codes.

Sorry it took so long to get back. I appreciate the response. However, it turns out that the C&L kit was actually for a Cobra. Got the right part and the light went out.

If you get the offroad xpipe you;ll need MIl eliminators(get the plug-in ones please, dont be cheap) to keep the "serv engine soon light" off.

Driving around with your Check engine light on is not GOOD. Timing has ben cut & it runs rich. This happens on EVERY SINGLE car. It's called "Limp Home" mode..

It's pretty dumb to ignore the light...
