Default Getting tranny back in

Hi,

I have just put a new clutch on my Mustang. I am trying to get the transmission back over the clutch and pressure plate and am having a hard time. The directions I had said to put bell housing on first and then the transmission, which is impossible with this transmission. The bell housing has to be on the the transmission before it can be put back on.

Any tips?
Has anyone dealt with this issue?
Does the front of the transmission need to be tilted up like when I took it off?

You need to raise the front of the motor up, to tilt the rear back.
That is the only way it will line up. Without the weight of the tranny, the motor falls forward. Then you can tilt the tranny up so it lines up.
I just used a jack with a block under the crank pulley to tilt the motor.
good luck.

After I tok off the transmission I noticed that the engine had sat back against the firewall, not leaned forward.

I got it off the firewall and I can let it go back again to hook up rhe transmission but is this normal, shgould it have rested back against the firewall?

Usually the motor will fall forward not backwards, are the motor mounts bad? I'm sure its not impossible for it to fall forward but just a rare occurance, is the car level?
