sct live link does not work?

called sct and was on hold for 15 min then got an answering machine..... wow.....

It should be prompting you from windows update from the internet explorer "tools" menu and just let you click to install it. Likely needing to reboot after.

If it's still FUBAR, install service pack 3, which I'm nearly certain you have not updated to first, as at least SP2 is now required for most subsequent updates in XP. Then the newest version of the windows installer service, then the .net 3.5 framework

If this is an issue, just invite the more IT savvy/nerdier sibling of the family over to help you update your laptop.
