Engine cuts off when the a/c runs
I have a 2000 ford mustang gt. I recently got tired of having a hot a/c so I took it to my dad for him to charge today. Upon starting to charge it the compressor just cut on and off constantly to where it got to the point that the engine died out and cut off after running the a/c for a few mins. Im wondering if its the IAC Valve or if I should just take it to a pro?

Cody, the cutting off & on of the AC compressor is pretty normal during charging with freon due to the low pressure switch. When it was empty the lp switch wouldn't let it cycle on due to low, or no pressure. As your dad was starting to charge it with freon the press started building & allowed continuity in the lp switch & allowed it to engage the AC clutch, but it is kind of hit & miss until it's full charged. As for why it caused the engine to die I have no clue unless as you say the IAC is bad & the extra load of the AC compressor caused the idle to drop too low.
