2000 5.4 with PI??
I have aquired a 2000 Triton 5.4L V-8, the eighth letter in the VIN is "L" which was from the Ontario plant but I am not sure where the motor came from.
I have been researching for weeks now before I rip this motor out of the vehicle and start a build. I want to put it in a Mustang but have some concerns. From what I read the block is iron and near identical to the 4.6 mustang motor. The heads are actually 2V PI heads and not the non-PI as the truck version introduce PI heads in '99.
The above being said, and true, would this be an easy swap into a 4.6 mustang? Of course the deck height is a little larger to accomodate the truck motor's larger stroke but the bore size is the same, I would plan on a top end build as the specs state the internals (crank and pistons) are the same as the mustang versions.
I know I would need new intake, throttle body, etc. but since I have this motor running now completed I am looking for someone to tell me to do it, push me over the hump but within a realistic build.
Thanks guys!

The "L" in position 8 indicates the engine type and source, in this case Windsor.
from the Ford 2000 MY VIN decoder:
You are the only one that can make the go/no go decisions, it largely depends on how much time and money you have to spend...

I wanna go! Time and tools are good to go, monetary resources as with many are "as available". This is a project I want to do I just want to be sure it does not require extensive modifications to the motor other than top end. Since I have the computer and wiring should be easy but you never know, looking for someone who may have done/ known of a triton to car build.
Thanks for your help!
