Default Transmission gear swap?

This is a newbie question but I know as much about transmissions as an elephant knows about engine oil. Is it possible to take a T-56 out of a Terminator and swap the gears to something that's more desirable like that sweet .50 6th gear that comes in the T-56 magnums? I want to ideally have my transmission gearing identical to my current T-3650 just with that 6th gear thrown in there with the .50. Does anyone know if this has been done before and if so what were the results?

Im not 100% sure in your scenario but I beleive its a good possibilty, I know for sure the t56 shift forks and synchros can be used in a t-45. Most of the gears and parts seems to be interchangable between the tremecs, but I have no expereince with the 3650s

Thanks for the input. Do you think maybe cliffyk might know about it or is there a transmission guru that I can ask?

I would call either Hanlon motorsports, or t45 source. I'm sure they would know.

AFAIK the T-56's are all identical internally other than the gear ratios. You will want to count the splines on the input and output shafts to make certain they match. The input shaft needs to be 10-spline, and I believe the output has 31 splines (but check that to be sure).

Here is a good article from Transmission Digest that provide a bunch of information about the T-56...

Would it be possible to change out the gears in the transmission for different ones? Have any idea where I would get the gears at?

Of course.

As suggested above Hanlon Motorsports would be the best place to start...

Do you have any idea how much that would cost?

Not a clue, however I bet Hanlon could help you out on that too...
