Default Broken fuel cap?

I had an engine code thrown at me a little while ago and it was the fuel cap not locking/sitting properly. The guy at Autozone said that because it's not locking/ sitting properly, I'm losing lots of gas (fumes going out of the cap). He said that there was no pressure pushing the cap off when he took it off.

Does this all sound right? In a different thread I mentioned that I get around 200 miles on a full tank, depending on driving. Some said it sounded right, some said it sounded a bit low. I'm wondering if this is the cause...

Thanks,

Josh

Was it an evap code? I had something similar to what your describing and it was the infamous filler neck issue.

The amount of fuel lost from an ill-sealing cap is negligible (where do they get this crap), however it will mess with the EVAP system and throw a DTC--what was the code?

I feel rather stupid that I threw away the paper with all the codes.. It had a broken fuel cap code, something about EVAP, Purge and a Vacuum leak.

Go to another FLAPS and have them read the codes again--then look 'em up here.

What the FLAPS guys tell you s somewhere between the generic description and a wild guess...
