Default 1996 ford mustang gt start up issues

I have a 1996 ford mustang gt and at times when im starting the car it struggles to turn on for a few seconds and then runs fine. At other times it normally starts with no problem. What might be the issue with the car?

I appreciate any help, thanks

Be more specific, does it crank slow? Does it crank fast? Does it just crank and not start? Failure to start can be any number of things and intermittent problems like that are usually hard to narrow down without details.

The car cranks slowly and then starts fine. This occurs once in a while but has never failed to start

Your battery may be too weak. Most auto parts stores will test your battery for tree (call ahead of course). Good luck...

Maybe the Fuel Pump?

Check your grounds and your cables could be corroded under the plastic coating

That doesn’t really make a difference. Batteries sometimes spend a very long time on the store shelf before you buy it. Not to mention that they sometimes just go bad. It happens.

Doubtful because the fuel pump does not effect cranking speed. rangelte says that it cranks slowly for a few seconds and then starts up fine. I suspect it is either the battery, resistance on the cables between the battery & starter or the starter itself. Resistance on a cable can be corrosion, loose connection, damage or a combination of the three.

Good luck...

Went to my local auto parts and they tested my battery, starter and alternator. They said that they passed all the tests.
