Default Replacing front bumper

I was removing the front bumper today to put the new one on, but my problem is with bolts that connect the bumper to the fender. My new bumper doesn't come with those bolts that screw into the side fenders. Anyone know what im talking about? Am I supposed to remove the 2 that are on the old bumper and put them on the new one?

I don't know if yours has the bumper brackets, but my '03 did. If so the brackets have to come off the old bumper to be added to the new bumper. The bracket is what holds the bumper to the fender. Hope that helps.

I just had the same problem, the brackets cost me around 15 bucks at a Ford dealership.

yep. I used an air grinder to remove the rivets. Then used small bolts instead of rivets on the new bumper cause I didnt feel like messing with the rivet junk.

Is there a cheaper option? I dont have a rivet tool, or air grinder. I think I'll check with Ford tomorrow.

You do not need an air grinder. All you need is a drill so you can drill through the top part of the rivet. It will pop right off. The manual rivet guns are cheap. Or use small bolts with washers. Either way will work as long as the brackets are held in place.

Thanks, it popped out by just drilling it. I bolted on the metal bracket, since it will be easier in the future.
