Default car wont start, theft light flashing, cant read DTCs

car had been running fine. then the other day i get in and try to start it and nothing. the theft light flashes brightly and quickly, the odometer is all dashes and no numbers. the first time i tried starting it the tac needle went all the way up and back down like all the needles do when you reset the computer.

on top of that when i try to read the DTCs my sct controller says it cant read the codes.

checked the fuses and underhood 20 was blown, i replaced it with no change

thinking maybe a PATS problem, any ways to fix that with out going to the dealer?

Unhook the battery and reset the system if that doesn't work I don't know.

Also leave it unplugged for a full 10 minutes or more.

Long shot but a problem with the chip/sensor combination in the key? Maybe try the other key.

Never mind. I see you have a 2001.....unless they were using the chip already at that point.

Had a very similar problem. Ended up being a bad computer. Stealership robbed me on that one.

Fuse #20 in the battery junction box is the field coil power for the generator.

In the central junction box (under the dash) check fuses
  • #2 (20 A, PCM power);
  • #21 (5 A, instrument cluster and PCM volatile memory);
  • #31 (10 A, data link [OBD2] connector).;
  • #34 (20 A, instrument cluster power, CCRM and PATS transceiver);
