Default Short Throw Shifters

I was just wondering if anyone out there knows how the different brands of short throw shifters compare to each other and which one would have the shortest throw. If it's relevant, my Mustang is a 2003 GT so it has the TR-3650. I had a cheap brand short throw in my 99 before it was totaled just cause I didn't have much money but couldn't stand the stock shifter. There was a trade in I drove when I worked at a Ford dealer, though, that had one that was so short it made it tough to find neutral and I loved it.

American Muscle has Hurst, Steeda, and SR Performance so any opinions and experience on these would be great.

Thanks!

well i must say you'll find out quickly one of our favorite on this forum is the MGW shifter. IMO the most versatile out there. adjustable throw and height and performs very well. have it in my 2003 gt and its quite nice!

Steeda or MGW, they are the only way to go.

Thumbs up

MGW! I too had one of the cheap short shifters I bought mine from ebay it was all adjustable from the throw to tighter springs. I liked it compared to stock, but I couldn't stand that the handle was dead center on the bezel so I still was reaching. My cousin sold his mustang but kept the MGW short shifter he had in it and gave it to me and man I have to tell you, you can;t go wrong with it. I can barely tell when i'm in neutral.

You're basing your opinion on only one shifter, unless you've driven with them all I really think it should up be to the OP.

OP,

There's a ton of different opinions with short throw shifters, mostly because there's several good options out there. Lots of our customers go with the Steeda Tri-Ax shifter. It's a very high quality part that won't disappoint. We also have the SR Performance shifter if you're looking to save a few dollars and still get a quality product.

Let me know if you have any questions!

I had a TriAx on my 2000 Roush and now have a MGW on my 2001 Bullitt.
Although I had no complaints with the TriAx, but I LOVE the MGW and highly recommend it.
