Default 4r70w transmission leak

Hey guys im new to writing forums but hopefully you could help me out on my problem. First of all i have a 98 Mustang Gt with an auto tranny (4r70w) and it has 131,000 miles on it and its leaking from the tranny. i checked it and its not from the pan, but its from the front of the tranny where the back end of the engine meets the tranny. It leaves a couple of drops on the driveway not much but enough. Could it be the input shaft seal? I heard that on high milage veihecles its a common problem that occurs that the input shaft seal ages and stops sealing in the oil. And if it is has anyone ever changed it before? What steps need to be done to replace it? Thanks any feedback would be much appreciated.

More than likely the input seal.

You might check the filler tube where it goes into the trans. There is an o ring that can leak.

Are you sure that it is tranny fluid? A leak where the motor meets the tranny is either the engine rear main seal, engine oil pan gasket, tranny input seal, or tranny pump o-ring. All, except the oil pan gasket, require the motor or tranny to be pulled in order to replace the offending seal. Once pulled, they are all pretty simple to replace. You'll need to lift the motor a few inches to get clearance to replace an oil pan gasket, but it would be easier to just pull the motor.

yeah im sure its the trans fluid, the oil is red... it would be a good idea to change the main seal of the engine as well, since i would be taking off the the transmission huh?
