pretty sure its an over flow line. it shot out of the hole only and there is a tube on the other side that goes up to the gas line neck.

The poor gas mileage may have something to do with your leaking intake manifold that you mentioned in the other thread. I used to get about 26-27 on the highway before mine started leaking. once it started leaking i was lucky to get 20 on the highway. the coolant had gotten everywhere and gummed everything up. now im back to my regular gas mileage. Just a thought

i thought about that too but this is such a small leak. I am going to get new spark plugs this weekend and inspect all that out.

yeah, mine was a small leak too. i only had to add water/coolant every 2 weeks or so. it was so dirty underneath, i dont know how it ran at all. The injectors were completely black and i run 93 octane and never buy cheap gas. i cleaned them up to look like new and its like i have a new car. If this is any help, i just turned 150k miles.

Not sure if this has been said, but what about your air filter? One time I was getting about 10mpg, and I had no idea what was going on. I finally checked it out, and it was clogged with black crap. I think it got clogged up when I had a clutch crap out on me, and some other problems that caused smoke. Cleaned it out and I was back to normal in no time.
