Default leaking coolant

i honestly regret buying this car no. I took the termostat housing off and replaced the gasket thinking that would fix the leak around it. the old gasket was basically not there. I am still getting a faint leak just below the thermostat. It may possibly be were the underpart of it is bolted down.

I am scared to run leak stop through it because Ive always heard thats only a temp fix to get you off the road. I am curious about the Chrysler radiator coolant that has crystals in it or something that seals up leaks. or liquid glass.

basically I am asking what is the common spot the 4.6L will leak coolant. I am going to have the take some stuff off before I even begin to inspect.

If its leaking from the bottom arrow you have to replace the intake. This happened to me even though i had the aluminum crosover.

ugg. very frustrated. I think i should try some leak stop first then. does flushing the radiator typically remove or lossen up leak stop? i flushed revently.

leak rate is about a quart over a few days. but then i dont drive it THAT much, as I walk to work.

I guess this seal here could be broken too as a possibility. .

Yea it could be the gasket. On mine i thought it was too but i took a look closer and watched it for a few days and it was leaking between the aluminum and the bottom plastic. i had no choice but to replace the whole intake manifold

Why not just replace the intake manifold gasket? A lot cheaper. It sounds like the OP just needs a new intake manifold gasket, unless the intake manifold is damaged/cracked.

the aluminum cross over has a layer of plastic underneath it. mine was leaking from between the aluminum and the plastic. the gasket sits below the plastic.

DO NOT USE stop leak, this stuff is bad news. It will just clog up your cooling system and you will have MUCH bigger problems down the road. Just find where it is leaking and fix it the right way, any "quick fixes" are usually to good to be true and more problems in the future

Intake cracking right there is common on these cars. I hope it isn't that.

already had that issue with the 97. bought the ungraded intake for it and had the heads milled.

I was having the same issue with mine leaking from around the thermostat housing but mine was leaking from both the top and underneath the cross over. I had the plastic crossover so i just went ahead and replaced the whole intake with the FRPP intake with the aluminum cross over. The Thermostat housing had warped and cracked. It was an easy job. Took about 3 hours and i was goofing off most of that time. Could have dont it much faster if we had wanted
