Interesting about vibration causing a board problem.
As a cash register dealer,I dealt with Sanyos at one time.It was pretty common that they would develop a power problem, caused by one leg of a fairly heavy component breaking, due to the drawer being slammed shut thousands of times.Soldering it back to the board, put it back in business.

As much as I'd like to have this car perfect,I'd probably be happy if I could just get the lights to stay off.I watched a youtube vid about removing the module from the car-it looked like a pia.I'm getting too old for those projects that one tackes on one's back.
My luck that the module would be unrepairable. The cost of a new one is about $865.

Well, you could always remove the warning light from the cluster. That's your easist and cheapest solution. That's what I did anyway, maybe someday I'll give enough of a **** to figure out what's actually wrong. The way I figure it, I had plenty of cars before this one that didn't have ABS or TC and have lived to tell about it, so fixing it on this car has just never really been a priority for me - that's time and money I could be spending on something to make it go faster or something.

Removing the HCU shouldn't be that difficult, you're not removing the aluminum block with the brake lines, just the electronic portion. From what I recall of the last time I spent 10 or so minutes staring at it you will need to slide beneath the car to unbolt it.

Consider removing one from a car that somebody on CL is parting out or maybe a junkyard. Should be much cheaper than the $865 you quoted for a new one. Haven't looked but willing to bet there should be one somewhere on Ebay at a reasonable price.

Thanks for the reply.
My thought as well-I drove a million miles no doubt before I had a car with ABS,and not having ABS was never a cause of an accident.

Update: I see that Raybestos offers reman modules.(around 268 plus core charge) (though Rock Auto is out of stock on the traction versions)
If I'm feeling ambitious one day,I might pull the module and look for broken solder issues.

Tune it out and be done with it.

Who needs Traction Control.

Mine is doing this same BS... Yet, it seems not to do so when its daylight.. But when I go out at night or turn the lights on, some minutes later, boom! The trac and abs lights pop on..... During the day, I can actually use/press the trac button on and off.. At night/when this happens... Nope.

I read that replacing the abs sensors should fix all this. Yet now I read all of this. But then, yet my issues are somewhat the same, it is weird when they occur.

Well, it's good to know that I'm not the loner with the boner. My 02 just started doing this crap too.

Sometimes it's the ABS light on the dash and sometimes it the ABS light along with the traction control light too. Braking still feels fine.

Just for the chits and giggles I took it out and did an emergency stop and everything felt the same and nothing felt out of the ordinary.

So I'm putting my fingers in my ears and screaming "lalalalalalala"

No reason for them not to feel fine...unless you want the advantage of ABS on wet or snowy roads.

Good point. Snow isn't a problem but the rainy season will be on us in a couple months so before long it might be time to pull my fingers out of my ears.
