So what does the speedo actually mean if it's not how aerodynamic the car is? Obviously it measures your speed but most vehicle stock can't hit their top speeds. Someone please fill me in.

You are honestly over thinking this. Their are so many mind games that are played by the OEM's they do and put things in certain ways to give you a sensation or feeling when you see them. And every OEM will have a different reason
In the case of the speedo they might put a 200 mph one in a semi sports car to give the potential buyer the illusion the car can somehow achieve such a #
