Need help ticking after engine rebuild
#11
I reused all the timing components gears and tensioners ect...and my chain didnt have timing marks si we just put on and when we timed we turned engine over with breaker bar to make sure valves didnt hit me and my dad did it im 18 and know a pretty good amount but it was really had to time is there anything I could have done wrong to make tapping noise?

First off, you are wrong! You do not tighten lifters. It could be a lifter but you would need to replace it.
Op, im curious why you used a 03 cobra block? there is no difference in the bare block itself. Also, why reuse the original oil pump? its a cheap part to replace and gives peace of mind. On the over heating issue, is the gauge reading hot and is the coolant overflowing? On the clutch, sounds like something was installed wrong

Oh really? please explain how you would tighten them up
OP there are timing marks it just appears you did not take the time to do the job correctly
And you will get a little lash adjuster noise for a little while after a rebuild because they all bled down. If it is still ticking after running for a while than I would be concerned

I did time it correctly by what the haynes book says and u have a guy at my work
That says his clutch was out on backwards and it had a loud ticking sound so I have dropped the
Tranny and im going to reinstall the clutch and see if that does anythibg and
On the timing isnt it only one way you can time it because wouldnt the valve hit if wasnt
Timed right thats the probalem I had until I could turn the motor over freely with
A breaker bar

I had a similar issue when I timed my passenger side head off by one tooth. It ran, not at peak performance, but it ran. And it was tapping really loudly. You say the timing is correct, but I don't believe you. If you had everything apart you should have changed the timing chains, tensioners, guides, and oil pump. Take the timing cover off and check again.
