I would just walk away period. The first owner only did 22k miles in 11 years. They probably babied it and took care of it which is sad because then the current owner gets their hands on it and drives the hell out of it, and/or is just a really $hitty driver.

1. Crashed into a guardrail.
2. Lost control and hit a curb with his driver side rear wheel.
3. The left side is beat all to hell.

That's 3 wrecks in 3 years that you are aware of.

Also I know for a fact that carfax, autocheck and whatever else don't always show everything that's happened to a car.

I'm thinking that he only had one accident. The OP said the guy told him he only had one accident with hitting a curb. My bet is that he's lying and saying hitting a curb sounds better than side swiping a guardrail. I say $3,000 knowing he'll have to put some work into it, because I would consider paying that much (based on the pictures alone, but might go lower if seen in person) because I would do the work myself.

Ya it makes me sick that it was so well taken care of and then beat to **** this bad.. I can tell he drove it like a hot dog. I always treat my cars like a princess so I am still hoping if it hasnt been rode too hard and I get it for a good deal I can take care of it and get it back to good shape. I'll keep anyone still paying attention posted to what the mechanic has to say on wednesday.

Well here's how it ends. I took it into the shop today, one of the mechanics owns a 01 gt so he is pretty familiar with the 99. I live in Pennsylvania and we need a state inspection to be road legal. To pass I need a new left rear tire and 4 new tires, he also said it may need a new rearend but visually cant be sure until a new tire is put on. So I used this knowledge to buy it for 3675. I drove it home an hour on the highway and some light city driving as I was leaving during Pittsburgh rush hour. It seems like a good deal so far as it is worth 3,000 dollars more in good condition. Just going to have to see exactly how much it needs. Thanks for everyones help on this thread!

My aunt backed into me in the same spot in the fender. Me not knowing she did, I tried to open the door to leave and wouldn't open . It ended up creasing the door skin and needed a new fender and repaint. Cost 1,800 dollars to fix. On top of that you will need a new rim etc .... If a car looks neglected on the outside just imagine what type of maintenence they would do ?? I have an 04 that is very clean with 3 grand in it and it books out at like 6,500 hundred bucks. Just wait

Thanks. And ya the fender is all kinds of ****ed up but he gave me another wheel and I put it on it got rid of the wobble. So it now needs new tires and it will pass inspection. And ya he probably did neglect it a bit but for 3675 i figure if I take care of it it should last quite a while still

It can all be fixed, just make sure you do it right. I've had my driver's side fender damaged (previous owner) and after my experiences with fender repair, I would strongly suggest a never-wrecked OEM (NOT aftermarket) fender over repairing the existing one or it'll never, ever all line up right again. Just replace it, bit the bullet.

Also, on the rear-end, you can find them cheap. You'd probably be better off finding a used rear that has the gears you want. Two birds, one stone.
