Amps could mean a Mach460 also. I think the 1000 has 4 amps, but I do know the 460 has 2 amps.
If it is a wiring issue, replacing the head unit won't necessarily fix that. Also make sure you get an adapter as the Mach units run on a different impedance than normal audio systems. Crutchfield is usually pretty good about that. (I still say it is a head unit issue more so than a wiring issue, but if the blue wire is shorted hot it would stop the amps from turning off, but I don't think that would affect the other issues you are having).

i picked up this pioneer

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-evu7p6v...EH-4400HD.html

it's nothing fancy, but with everything i need to install it i only paid 114 lol. It'll hook up to the iphone and charge it, and play the music. thats all i need. crutchfield gave me the specific harness to adapt the head unit to the car so i can still use the factory amps. i'll post pics of the install and before/after. fingers crossed! i have a hunch u guys are right with the headunit being shot

I need that for this radio? the guy from crutchfield never mentioned that. is it difficult to do? I read that some people who put in aftermartket head units get a slight "poping" from the speakers right as they power it up...im guessing your tutorial is showing how to eliminate it? im sure it's going to help me out with my installation, so thank you in advance!!!
