Default Getting off the line faster help!!!

I have a 2003 mustang gt automatic. I have a c&l cool air intake and a borla performance exhaust. My question is that my friend will be doing a engine swap soon he has a dodge neon running at 132hp not a lot but is switching to a srt4 engine when he is done his car will be fast. Am worried about his car getting of the line faster than mine. My car right now is fast running at 280 or 290hp his will be at 250hp maybe. I really want my car to get off the line faster what are some mods that will help. I don't wanna spend a lot of money on mods. Will underive pulleys and a tuner help?

+1 I find it impossible to believe that you have that much power off a cold air intake (which probably didn't do anything power wise) and an exhaust. But if you want off the line quicker. Get gears and some good tires to start. Maybe even some rear control arms.

You could also really use a tuner. I have a 5 speed but I've heard the tuners do wonders for the autos

I myself have an srt, SRT comes with turbo stock if by any chance he adds the turbo with the engine to the neon you will probably have a hard time beating him. A real SRT just with a few mods can hit 400hp easily

A stock SRT will barely keep up with a stock auto GT, torque will pull on him. Also id be very surprised if he beat you off the line at all.

Switching to an SRT4 engine won't be fast without a turbo and also swapping his stock tranny for the t850 in the SRT4. If he just swaps block for block it'll be slow and you'll have no problem. I assume since you said he's at 132hp, he probably has a 1st gen sohc.

With your RWD vs his FWD, you could spot him over 100hp and still get off the line quicker than him. Easily. (been there done that)

With good suspension (UPR Products), a gear (4.10), and drag radials, he could put 400hp to the tires (which those neons can do pretty easily) and you should still pull him hard on the launch.

I think you underestimate how quick the SRT4 can be.

What year is his neon? Is it auto or manual?
