Default Brake Caliper bolts are clutched?

I changed my brake pads and notice the bolts going into the caliper never actually tightened up. I kept turning and turning and turning.... are they like the oil drain and cant be over tightened?

also I say that my caliper has PBR written on them. and they are red, not sure if thats OEM or not.

On a stock brake setup, the bolts should be secure and not spin freely. You might have stripped the threads in the bolt whole.

I’m not sure if the caliper is stock or not. It should have ford stamped on it somewhere if it was stock or remanufactured. The color doesn’t really matter. There are kits to pain calipers pretty much all the colors of the rainbow and all the other colors in-between.

No, more than lilkley the slide pins are stripped, stock new edge calipers don't have any ford stampings on them they are made by PBR

Are the slide pins aligned so the flat of them is against the flat on the brake caliper? Or are your slides just spinning cause they're on wrong?

i only loosened one bolt and took the other out. I lifted the top up so as to pivot on the loosened bolt, so it never got flipped around. infact I dont think they can be put on backwards or wrong. Maybe I need more force on it. The pads didnt fit good at ALL. I got the wearever Platinum. I had to compress the cliper all the way with the c-clamp and it STILL was a bitch getting them on, I ended up having to grind off the little pad rivets.

on the 97 i never had to compress the piston to get the pads in. odd.

If you had to grind on your brake pads you're doing it wrong.

i dont see any other way I could have done it. The piston was completely compressed. I think wearever is just crappy for having this little spot on them stick out.

..so if the caliper was pushed all the way in and he still had to grind the pads, what would you have done? When I did the pads on the 99, everything worked fine and fit fine. I would think the pads were not the correct size or maybe the rotors were thicker than stock.

see the little metal nipples? i had to grind them off. Also i know these are FLOATING brakes, i still dont understand how the outter pad gets worn down with no piston pushing it. I guess the inner pad takes most of the friction ?
