I have a 1996 GT mustang bought about 2 months ago and i just noticed today its only shifting 3 times. I always thought just different gears so never really payed attention i had to buy a speedcal when i first bought it to get it back on track was about 20mph fast (havent got to see what gears i got i had to set the speedcal to 4.22) Anyway i noticed today that it shifts 3 times and thats it even if i get to 100+ it never shifts again from when it shifted at about 45mph

cruising 80 the rpms are about 3000.

What are some of the things i can look at? its an automatic

With there being only 4 gears it should only shift 3 times, those being, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4.

I have 4.10s in the rear and I sit at exactly 3000 RPMs @ 80 MPH, so that's probably what you have in the rear.
