Default '03 GT Build Thread (Its Slow)

I've always been a die hard GM fan, but I always wanted a sports car that was relatively affordable. That is where the 99-04 Mustang GT came into play. My buddy had a '99 GT vert back when I was in high school that I fell in love with. Now I have my own and I absolutely love it. I plan on keeping it around for quite some time and plan on gradually adding small add ons to it.

It had 138,000 miles on it when I bought it. The woman said she has driven it all over the US for her sales rep job. Its been stored every winter since it was new and little did she know, the previous owner before her had modded it a bit.

Once I got the car home, I realized it had welded subframe connectors, Steeda underdrive pullies, Bullit pedals, Flowmaster catback exhaust, and an aftermarket clutch. Based on the mods and the condition of the car, I pretty much stole it from her I feel. So on to the photos.

The day I picked it up:

Within a few days, I realized it needed some window tint. I went with limo on the back three and 20% on the front windows.

I went with the first mod that most everyone does to their Mustang....the Mach 1 grille delete and chin spoiler. Its nuts how much it changes the look of the front end.

Next came a CAI from American Muscle. Installation was a breeze, I just wish I would have waited to buy a CAI/Bama tuner combo. Oh well, eventually I'll get it.

I'm not sure what I'll do next, but I have things planned over time.

Very nice! I wonder if you discover other mods as time goes by. The verts had sub frame connectors stock, So it seems an odd choice for the original owner to have only done UDP, clutch, exhaust and sub frame connectors.I bet he put some gears in too. I would check Cliffyk's chart of speed vs rpm's to see what gears you have. I'm jelous, my 04 vert doesnt have the light bar and is an auto. Very nice ride! Thanks for the pics.

Edit: She'd look wicked lowered with the black scoop and decal in front of the scoop. Maybe paint the spoiler black too? Or a fade stripe.

How about some suspension work? Drop it and it will really look pronounced.

Nice pick up!!! The previous owner would probably be really surprised to know what was done to the car before she picked it up. Lowering may be your next move. I plan on lowering mine when I get back to the States later this year.

Very nice, Congratulations! I've always had a sweet spot for a White New Edge GT.

Keep up the great work with your build and definitely let me know if you ever have any questions or need some assistance in the near future!

You guys talk, about lowering the car, and here is my questions, i just picked up a 2002 Gt and would like to lower it 1.5" if possible, i wonder what exactly will i need to buy, like the whole suspension set up or just different springs, maybe spacers ? I have never lowered a car and also wonder if its possible to do it by your self and how much will the parts cost ?

If i will lower it 1.5" will i be able to put saleen 18x9 in front and 18x10 on the back ?

I did not know the verts came with subframe connectors. It makes sense though.

As for the suspension, that will be next. I may buy small things occasionally, but the suspension will be the next big mod. The shocks/struts are in good shape for now so I'll just wait until eveything needs to be replaced. Until then, I'll just drive it and enjoy it.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Well, I had the car for sale for about 2 months. I was on my way to meet a guy for a test drive and I decided I couldn't sell it. So I'm keeping the car for a while longer. I snapped a few updated photos of it too.

And my absolute favorite of it parked in the garage. Not bad for 142,000 miles.
