I have an '01 GT that was modded before I got it 8 months ago. Mods to the suspension are Bilstein coilovers (lowered 1 1/2"), MMS caster plates, full length weld in frame connectors, MMS panhard bar, MMS LCA's, UCA's are still stock. Recently I had to replace my front wheel bearings and while I was doing that, I adjusted my front shocks so my ride height was the same front to back. Plus, I laid into the skinny pedal a couple of times. OK, background is set, on to the questions. I now have a loud klunk coming from the rear of the car when I am making a full right turn in or out of my driveway, the apron has a 1" curb with about a 2 degree incline. I have inspected my torque boxes and don't see any visible cracks or deformities. Yet the sound is so loud that something should be visible. I have pried on every part under the rear of the car, both with it hanging and under load, and cannot get any abnormal movement. I have even laid in the trunk while someone else replicated the sound and can pinpoint the sound to the area almost in the middle of the rear seat floor area. Could my torque boxes still be loose even though there is nothing obvious? Or could it be a bad bushing somewhere? Possibly posi clutch packs going south?

Could be the that bump stop up in the bottom of the car above your diff. They may have not swapped it out, the OEM one is HUGE!

I am the kind of guy that likes a visual confirmation, that is why this issue is making me nuts, no visable cracks or movement anywhere, but yet SOMETHING is moving. What about the counterweight? I did notice that one of the bushings on it is missing. It floats up and down with a little effort.

The bump stop looks like it is still the OEM one. It is pretty close to the top of the pinion on the diff. Maybe I will try removing it and the quad shocks.....just for a test. Then replace them if the noise is still there.

OK, still chasing my "klunk". I removed the counterweight, and quad shocks. The noise is still there. I went to a local speed shop for input and to see if they carried the bushings for my MMS control arms. No luck on the bushings. But he said unless I was pushing large amounts of HP, the torque boxes would probably be ok. Also, now I didn't know this, that standard grease is detrimental to those poly bushings. So with grease fittings to lubricate the bushings and 8 years of maintainence from the previous owner, I am thinking that the bushings are the culprit. I ordered new ones from MMS (they use their own unique size, so OE ones won't fit) and will be doing the install next weekend. HOPEFULLY this fixes it, as it is driving me crazy.
