I'm putting 4.10 gears in an got some valveoline 80-90w that the Haynes manual called for, do I need to put a additive in also?

If you have a limited slip, yes you need the additive. Otherwise the clutches will engage during normal turns causing the rear axle to attempt to drive straight ahead.

Some oils come width additive in it already. Read the label to be sure.

Most synthetic gear oils are sufficiently "slippery" that f/m additive is not needed--as Frostbite said, "read the label". Too much friction modifier, or f/m added to synthetic oil, will make the LSD clutches slip too much and not lock up as they should...
