Default still cant get into 1st or R. please help!

background info. 2002 mustang gt 5speed. centerforce dual friction clutch, pro 5.0 shifter.
iv been having some issues getting into 1st gear and Reverse from a stop. it takes several tries to get into 1st and often requires a bit of force. reverse is bad as well, I usually have to shift into 4th and then over into reverse a few times before it goes in. I installed a Maximum Motorsports clutch cable kit yesterday hoping that would help as my old cable was rather stiff and worn. it made the pedal effort a little less but didn't fix the problem. anyone out there have any suggestions or has had a similar issue?
thank you!

I'm not real familair with manuals but it sounds like the syncro's have some serious wear on them.

yep, it seems the syncro is gone or the clutch springs are going bad.

when you insert another gear, you slowing down the shaft you need to insert and even if it's not the right rpm for the first gear it helps a lot.

how much is the cost?
Unfortunately I can't help you, I'm new here and I didn't understand yet the mechanic costs.

as labor, they need to put down the transmission and open it.
the syncro is not expensive but the labor is quite enough to raise the expense and when you have your trans open, you could have the chance to replace other parts too.

depending also how may miles you have on your clutch, maybe it could be time to take a look also on that.

The clutch should be good. It was done at 20,000 miles and the car only has 42,000 on it

It just doesn't make sense to me, some days she's good and shifts fine, some days she gives me the hardest time.
