Why won't mechanics in my town do a 4.6 head gasket job?

I'm not trying to buy parts, I just want it fixed. We've been putting a short list together of the engine we want to build and I'll just drop it in when ready.

Also, I am trying to buy the gasket set and one set says for 6,x,6 vin and the other says for w,x,9 vin and my vin has neither 6 nor 9 in it. IDK which way to determine the proper one. I see a difference in the intake and rocker cover gaskets in the sets.

There shouldn't be a different, one should be for a 6 cylinder, the other for a V8. W/X/9 should be the right one.

Several differences in the gaskets.

You must have gotten a good deal on the white F150 to have bought it instead of a red one. Very nice wash day lineup!
Looking forward to more pics as you continue the head gasket job. You are braver than I am. I'm learning from following your thread.
Edit: Sorry for the out of place response.Didn't see that his had gone to 2nd page.

The first one. The valve cover gaskets are different.

You don't turn down an 06 for $2900.

Hmm, go by whichever valve cover gasket you have. The head gaskets will be the same.
