2003 GT Auto shift lock
My 2003 GT, Auto, is stuck in park. The brake lights are working and this problem slowly got worse over the course of last week until Friday when it finally stopped letting me out of park. Up until Friday afternoon I could hit the brake multiple times and press hard and get it to come out of park.
I'm doing the start it, shut down, shift to neutral, restart trick for now... but I assume I need a shift interlock solenoid? The odd thing is I can't find any write ups anywhere on where/how to replace it. Anyone do this job? Could it be something else? If you know where it is, how hard it is, etc. I'd appreciate any info!

The shift lock actuator is in the steering column, connected to the shifter by a cable. Here is the RnR for the cable and actuator.
However as for a while you could fiddle with the brake and get it to unlock I would first suspect the brake pedal position switch is not closing cleanly--do your brake lights work?.
