Default intake manifold

hey guys i removed my intake manifold today because ford told me i had leaky lower intake gaskets.

so i ordered the gaskets, but after hearing about how easily they crack, to my dismay this is what i found:

this is on the plastic piece connected to the aluminum crossover, there is a crack/gap in the holes on both sides

im assuming there is no way to fix this and i should just order a new one correct?

they also told me i had a leaky gasket in my thermostat, but i took it out and the o-ring seems fine and i dont really see where the leak would be coming from.

so are these really what is causing my white exhaust smoke?

Hi, you can repair it with some type of expose.Has to be clean really well. And allowed to sit to completely dry.And yes this will cause the white exhaust smoke. There is another thread that Cliffyk, gave instruction on how to repair it. Next question to you is do you really want to do this more than once, if the repair does not work or hold? I am sure more people will post on this.

Dude, they are brand new on American muscle for $230 and it's the Ford factory intake. Whatever you do do not get the dorman, you WILL lose power.

That is the most common failure mode for the PI intake with the aluminum crossover--here is the thread in which I described my experiences. The other common failure is also erosion of the plastic related and involves failure of the nipple for the heater core inlet tube, at the rear of the manifold's passenger side.

As they all will fail in this manner I will add a big +1 to the recommendation of just buying a new FRPP manifold--buying a used one is just being penny wise and pound foolish...

Yup, Ford Racing Performance Parts. The FRPP PI intake manifold is the same as delivered on the later model GTs with the aluminum coolant crossover...
