Look up Borla Stingers. I have them on my 2000 mustang gt and it sounds great. It's not obnoxious and raspy but they are pretty loud when you step on it. It's got a nice tone and no drone when I'm cruising. I've also gotten a lot of compliments from people who hear it even non-mustang fans.

Everyone has great ideas on here, but I can't believe no one referenced headers. Headers will help eliminate any raspy exhaust tone you may have. I ran BBK headers, O/R X, and Super 40's with 3.5" tips. The car sounded completely different than most Mustangs, but yes it had drone.

Now mine dump at the muffler due to an unfortunate turn of events. Now, my car sounds like every other Fox Body on the street even though it's a 4.6...

I would suggest a set of 1 3/4" x 3" American racing or Kooks long tubes (i know they are expensive, but you only have to buy them once) with an off road X-pipe, Flowmaster Super 44 two chamber mufflers with 3" tubing from the X-pipe back.

Headers and a catless x-pipe will do more to make your car loud than straight pipes. And you will have better performance as well.

I'm not a fan of straight pipes because i feel it lacks balance and just ends up being raspy and obnoxious. This will be loud enough that you will: be shutting your car off in the drive through, setting off car alarms when you drive by parked cars, causing the young and elderly to cover their ears and run for cover, your neighbors to hate you when you leave early or come home late, and every cop will know you and your car.

Like Jesse James the chopper building ******* said "If you can't hear it before you see it; what's the point?"
