squeeling noise
Usually in the morning my car squeels. I bought a new serpentine belt less than 10,000 miles ago. I am curious if anyone has had a similar problem and if so was it the idler pulley. The belt is in good condition. The noise usually goes away when the car warms up, and if I spray wd-40 specifically around the idler pulley the noise stops usually.

While 10k miles is not a lot of miles for a belt, they can start squeaking in that time frame if something gets on them, like grease or oil.
If adding wf-40 to the bearing of the idler pulley makes the noise go away then I would suspect that it is the problem. They are pretty easy to change out and fairly inexpensive. You can pick up a new one at most auto parts stores or rockauto.com. Good luck...

If you are getting wd 40 on the belt when spraying, that can create more squeal after the wd 40 dries. Spraying it on the bearing only it would indicate a need for an idler pulley as mentioned above.

I had a 99 Taurus do this. Changing the serpentine belt did not fix it. It was louder in the winter than the summer, and it stopped perhaps five seconds after starting in the summer, and a couple minutes after starting in the winter.
