Default The Vortech Engineers are Idiots!

About a month ago, my idler pulley seized and took the belt out. I managed to salvage enough of get the part number and order another one. In the mean time, I installed a new pulley. I sat waiting almost two weeks for the belt to arrive.

When it finally did arrive, I went out to install it. Everything was going relatively smooth until I tried to slip the belt over the pulley that is behind the supercharger mount. Much to my surprise, I discovered that there is no clearance to get the belt behind the mount and over the pulley. Because some idiot engineer (that has probably never worked on a car) didn't take the time to think things through, I now have to pull the entire mount just to install the belt.

The other awesome part is that the tensioner has wrapped around and buried itself behind the mount as well with no possible way to get a ratchet on it and spin it around. Way to go Vortech.

Thank god all this happened close to home and not out on a cruise through the mountains or else I would be in real trouble.

All the reverse rotation blowers require removal to install the belt.

^ yeah, all CCW blowers require that. Maybe look into a different setup other than a centri?

That's the dream. I'd like to go all motor for simplicity but I'm a fan of turbos as well. I just don't know enough about them or how to tune for them to make it practical for me.

Just take it to a dyno tuner just like with a supercharger, who tuned your vortech?

I bought it just the way it is. RMCR here in Colorado Springs did the install and the tuning.

Finally got the new belt on.

Pulling the supercharger off was actually pretty simple. Replacing the belt would have been a pretty easy job if they hadn't covered up the tensioner.
