Default Odometer (Repair #1 of 3) question - not working

Car: 1997 Cobra Convert. 115K (at least last known)
Owned for 1 year, no history (it was a trade for a 94 vette that had critical issues)
Additional Info: I know the instrument panel was removed as MAL light was removed

Speedo. works fine, odometer and trip do not.

My diagnosis: (based on previous mechanical speedos.) replacement is the fix.

Any other ideas?

Default I will answer my own thread

Order the two gears to fix the Odometer - I ordered off of Ebay for 17.00 This is a common failure on the Mustang.

Just get the gears. I had to do the same on my 95 Tbird when I owned it.

your garage is a bunch of dolts, there are 2 plastic gears and one usually breaks a tooth or two off, everything works, but the gear no longer meshes with the other one. Pretty easy fix

Here is when i did it to my 98

Default Ordered!

Just ordered the replacement gears, and watched the how-to video. Believe I may try this repair on my own!
