Rather than go with spacers which will throw off the 'balance' of suspension, just get wider tires and/or rims.

Adding spacers or wider wheels to increase the rear track isn't going to throw off the "balance" of a solid rear axle suspension. The spacers maight not be balanced, but that's another issue.

However, I would avoid spacers simply because I do not want extra bolts and parts in my drive line. More failure points and the possibility of of imprecise machining leading to balance and run out problems - no thanks.

I have a 98 and i want to do the same thing i would like to put 1 1/2" but would settle for 1". I looked on American Muscle and it said you cant use them with stock wheels. You can get then with hubcentric centers which may help with any balancing issues. Much cheaper than buying new rims & tires (two kids in college) I do like to push the pedal but i'm not at the strip every weekend. So for the cost i say go for it

I would love to get wider wheels and tires but for now cash is a little tight.

I was also thinking of going with Hubcentric spacers to minimize possibility of throwing the wheel spin off center balance.

I ran I believe 1.25" spacers on my gt just fine. Mine were hubcentric.

I've been using wheel spacers for 5 years or so on my GT rear wheels. The look is so much better. I think they are 1.25". They worked fine with stock wheels when I used to run them when it was my dd. Get them bitches tight though. Tighten them, drive 100 miles then take the wheels off and tighten them some more.

I bought my spacers back when I had my ranger 5 years ago, they went on it, the explorer I had after that and now they've been on my 98 gt for 3 and a half years.

I only have the rear spaced out on all 3 vehicles and stepping the back wheels out made them feel more stable while turning.
