Engine Light just came on this morning
My engine light just came on this morning on my 2001 Mustang GT. Before I say the codes, last night I was installing a deck and this wire came loose.
The code are:
P0442 an Emissions code
P0302 misfire on cylinder 2
This car runs great, so frustrated. Especially since I don't have a clue of where to start on finding where that wire goes???
I hope someone can help with these, I know P0442 can be just a gas cap.

Mechanic told me today that wire is like mentioned above radio related, if everything seems to work tape it up and tuck it away.
P0442 Emission code
Said I needed a new EGR Pressure Feedback Sensor (DPFE) for V8 4.6L $55 at 1AAuto
P0302 Cyl 2 misfire
Need EGR Pressure Feedback Sensor (DPFE) for V8 4.6L $10
$80 for labor...
Anyone agree with that?

i really wish i could edit
P0302 Cyl 2 misfire
Need EGR Pressure Feedback Sensor (DPFE) for V8 4.6L $10
i call 100% BS on that never EVER heard of that making a cyl mis-fire my EGR port was pluged on my 97 and it never had a miss and didnt throw a code for mis-fire.
check the EGR port before doing EGR parts i learned the hard way. that port in the intake gets cloged. i replaced EGR and that DPFE only to realize the port was cloged...
but cyl 2 miss is a miss not EGR IMO id do plugs and coils

Do not, I repeat do not, replace the ignition coils with ANYTHING you buy off ebay.
Your ignition coils are fine, if they aren't broke don't fix them. The Motorcraft ones are the only coils worth anything.
Also an EGR can most certainly cause a misfire if it sticks open at idle as it will be re-circulating dirty unburnable air.
Last, both of those are super easy repairs even for a novice mechanic. All you need to get the coils out (especially #2) is a 7mm socket and the DPFE is that black or gray piece with the two vacuum lines coming out of the bottom of it near the EGR at the back of the engine.
Ok that was not last because this needs to be repeated. DO NOT REPLACE YOUR IGNITION COILS WITH ANYTHING YOU BUY ON EBAY!

if you had a coil issue with one the other 7 are not far behide. id do plugs and COP's all at once not as they fail as so many people say. i changed my coil packs wires and plugs in my 97 F150 when they started to go and i plan to do the same on my 03 Mustang when it hits 100,000 motor craft plugs and Global COP.
You can spend your money on what ever you want it is your car. motorcraft is 80-110 for ONE COP Global you get all 8 for that price...and they work! just my .2cents
