Driver side stuck caliper
#14
Welp, I got it all apart today, slide pins came right out. Nothing wrong with them. Replaced them anyway since I had the parts, and replaced the pads. Did the same for the other side. Started my car and drove it and its even worse now. When I pop it in neutral to coast it slows down by itself, and the brakes on that side were smoking and smelled like brake pads when I got home.
So its doing the same thing. My uncle told me its the brake line since its rubber it has collapsed? any thoughts on this?

Never in my years of wrenching have I ever seen a collapsed brake line. I have seen the pins seize up and I have seen calipers seize up. Were you able to push the caliper piston back into place to put the new pads on ?

I just thought about it, and the passenger side was so much easier to compress the caliper to go back on, and the driver side (my trouble stuck side) was a pain the compress but I did it. Could this be the hose because fluid won't return up the line? hints why the caliper is getting stuck?

Bad caliper . Id pull the caliper off the car completely , it shouldn't be hard to get the piston back into the caliper . If its not going easy there is something wrong with it. I have seen calipers so seized up they wouldn't budge with a press. I have never seen a plugged brake line or one that is collapsed. There is just to much pressure there.
Pull the caliper disconnect brake line and with a c clamp you should easily be able to press the piston back using 1 finger to turn the clamp. If you had to force it , it is no good.

So you're saying with the bad caliper off, and disconnected from the brake line, the pistons should go back in easy? or would the be just as hard with the caliper off if it is seized.
