Default Oil pressure gauge

I have been wondering about our 'dumby' oil pressure gauge and how it just reads whether or not you have adequate oil pressure it seems.

Is there a way to change out maybe the sending unit or something to make the oil pressure gauge an actual gauge? And not basically a warning light?

You would have to replace the entire gauge and sender. Also, I think the computer system might read the oil pressure and shut the engine down if no reading is fed to it. You could install a separate gauge in a pod mount and "T" the sending unit with the factory unit.
