IAT Wiring

IAT Wiring
I just bought an 02 GT and I am in the process of correcting/repairing all the neglect my car suffered from the POs. I just got done replacing the heater core (what a chore) and while I had the engine warming up decided to check for fault codes and have a pending P0113, indicating an IAT problem.
I checked and where the IAT should be there is a plug (usually used to cap a fitting during storage), to top it off somebody cut the connector and just push the two wires out of sight.
My question is if I can fins a connector that will fit on a new IAT sensor does it matter which wire goes where? I have a gray wire and a gray/red stripe wire. Before anybody asks....I have the 4-wire MAF connector.
Thanks!

Ford is super good about using standardized wire colors for their cars as well as standardized plugs. Just go to your local salvage yard and clip the connector off of another vehicle then all you have to do is match the colors.

On 2002's the IAT is built into the MAF, although I guess if it was a really early build it could have the separate IAT. Look at your MAF connector, I think if it has 6 pins then it does have the IAT in it.

I am finding all kinds of neglect on this car as I go through it, I guess the last owner didn't have the funds to properly maintain the car. I am slowly getting things sorted out.
The latest repair was to replace both valve cover gasket; that was almost as bad as a pain in the .... as replacing the heater core.
