Default heater core bypass

I noticed today that there is coolant in the floordboard on the driver side of my car. I don't have the time right now to replace it but my car is my DD, so is these the 2 hoses that need to be connected together to bypass the heater core?

I just thought of this and don't know if it will work, but could I take the hose to the right and connect it to where the one on the left goes into the intake manifold?

Yes, those curly hoses are the two hoses that go to the heater core. I don’t remember which is the inlet and which is the outlet though, but I do know that they are different inner diameters. I wouldn’t cut them because those hoses are hard to find (at least they were for me). There are bypass kits available online though, but you can probably build one with some hose connectors. i don’t know if your idea will work though. You don’t want to cause a kink in the hoses. You want the coolant to flow freely.

Good luck...

Both hoses have quick disconnects at the heater core and they are of different diameter. I would think it is hard to find a fitting to connect the two hoses together. This is really the wrong time of the year to run without heat anyway.

I just replaced the heater core in my 02 Mustang. It took me about ten hours; it is labor intensive but not hard to do....weekend job. Just replace the heater core and be done with it. It helps if somebody can give you a hand lifting the dash out as it is bulky and kind of heavy.

I just bypassed it this morning. Went to autozone last night and found a fitting forbthe hoses. It's 5/8s and 3/4s. But I will replace it soon. It's in the 40s here now. I need heat.
