Default Snapped Clutch Cable

So i had a clutch cable snap on me a few months back. i didn't have the time to fix it so i sent it to a mechanic i can trust to install a new one. that was maybe six months ago. this morning the same thing happened before i left the garage at my place. the cable broke at the crimped end taking about an 1/8" piece of cable. the "new" cable was an OE ford part. i traced the routing and it doesn't appear to be touching anything that would heat and destroy the cable. the end of the cable is frayed. and prior to this happening in both instances the cable made a moaning noise upon pedal depression. the latter instance also occasionally made a click on depression. ill put up some pics of the cable under the dash. there appears to be some wear under the dash.

I just ordered a maximum motorsports cable with fire wall adjuster and quadrant, if you have an idea whats happening here i'd appreciate some help. if the kit i bought is going to solve the problem i'd like a heads up on that too.

thanks all.

I use photobucket. As for what's happening I dunno, where is breaking at? Which end more specifically. I have the steeda adjustable cable, clutch quadrent, and UPR fire wall adjuster. Your pedal will have less travel and you can set where you want the clutch to engage, meaning you can have it engage really high up the clutch pedal travel which I like. I've heard great things about MM cable, like they are the same as ford. I think you just got a bad cable which is unfortunate.

Glad I read this. Mine clicks too when I press the clutch pedal, and I have the upr adjuster and quadrant. It's coming from underneath the car.

My cable broke off at the end connector that hooks to the stock plastic fulcrum under the dash. the crimp didn't fail the cable snapped at that point and is frayed an the end under the dash. I'm 99% sure that the last cable came from Napa so i kinda feel lucky that it lasted as long as id did. i ordered the MM cable quadrant and fire wall adjuster from Lethal Performance. I'll let you guys know how the install and feel of the cable is once i get it.

I fixed up the photo links...

It appears to me that the cable may have been too tight; there should be 1" to 1-3/8" of free play in the pedal...

I went through two ford cables before I upgraded to a Steeda. No problems for about 30,000 miles now.

So i got the MM clutch cable kit with the firewall adjuster and quadrant and installed them all today...Mostly. everything is in correctly and the cable seems to be about 1/8th of an inch too short. has anyone ever had this problem? the adjuster is al the way in, the end that hooks to the clutch fork is not adjustable. i called MM about it and they didn't know what to do, they asked me to call them when i resolve it so they could use my case in the future for any one else with this problem. I do have a McCloud RXT twin disc clutch, could that change anything?
