Out of sheer boredom, I removed the air silencer from my airbox yesterday afternoon. Afterwards, everything ran fine. The only differences I noticed were a slightly touchier throttle and a little "fuller" engine sound. Seemed OK so I left it off.

This morning, I started up the car and as soon as I put it into drive (auto trans), the car started pulsing as it crawled forward. Nothing too extreme, but just kind of a jerky "wow-wow-wow" sound and motion. It went away as soon as I hit the gas, and it hasn't happened again today in several cold starts.

A similar thing happened a few months ago after a Seafoam treatment. In that case the morning-only pulsing went away after a couple of days.

Any ideas on what is happening here? Most of the info I've dug up has more to do with chronic or more severe problems, but this only happens the first time I start the car in the morning, is not severe, and (at least the last time it happened) went away after a couple of days.

If it's happened before then it's probably not the air silencer removal causing it. Just to be sure though, see if re-installing it fixes it.

Quick update - just like the last time, the problem just vanished this morning. Although it doesn't seem to hurt anything on the car, I would still love to know what causes this. I feel certain that there is a direct connection between this and Seafoaming and removing the air silencer, since each time it happened the morning afterwards, and hasn't occurred any other time. Very odd.
