Mustang not staying on unless my foot is on the gas.
Hello, I have had a problem where when trying to start my car (1996 Mustang GT) unless my foot is on the gas it stalles. And while driving it I have to keep my foot on the gas or it stalls so when im trying to brake I have to put it in neutral and apply the brakes while keeping my foot on the gas. What could be causing this? It used to only do it once in a great while but now everytime I go to drive it, I have to do this.
Another issue could be is to clean out your throttle body. My 03 does this occasionally. Try cleaning out the throttle body/intake with cleaner and that should fix it.

Make sure it's Throttle Body Cleaner, and 'NOT' Carb Cleaner! There is a difference. Carb Cleaner will remove the coating.
If you look at the end of your iac valve, there is a round piece on the end. That piece is covering an adjustment screw. Start by setting your idle screw at 1/2 turn just after it makes contact with the throttle. Then turn the iac adjustment screw (clockwise if your idle is hanging) to your preference above where the ac/fan/power steering won't stall it. That's your lowest recommended idle.
