Default Cutting in exhaust on flowmaster cat back

I recently installed a prochamber on my 01 and it sounds great but the tired old 40's (think thats what they are) have to go they sound like crap. They have a blow-by sound amd little rattle and such.

I like the sound of Mac or flowmaster super 44,

#1 it bothers the heck out of me that theyre $80 a piece but it is what it is

#2 The muffler shop wants $65/ to cut them in?

I cannot find a part number to get the mufflers with the ball join and neck installed so the muffler will need to be expanded to fit over the pipe clamped and welded, and thats if there is enough pipe to make it all work with the back after you cut them loose.

am I over thinking what needs to be done to install them (which I hope) then I will take my saws all and cut the front loose and drive the tailpipe section loose and make it work. Or is it truly a $65/ job?

Mad hatter muffler wants 400 for the mufflers and labor to install If Super 44 catback at latemodel is $420.

Anyone have advice or input or been through this?

IMO, Mac mufflers sound way better than Flowmasters. Just youtube some videos of your setup you're looking for. and for installation. It's as simple as cutting the old mufflers out and welding in the new ones. I recommend having an exhaust shop do that. I did that to mine, and only paid $80 for both to be cut and have my new ones welded in. That didn't include the cost of the new mufflers though. Still, I know I know its done right with no leaks.

80 total wouldnt bother me as much as 130. Mac is my other choice. I like that deep bassy sound. I may just buy the mac cb and call it a day. Its only 375 at am.

Thanks for the input

Did find a shop to do it for $70 all in. In the end I think Im just going to buy the mac cb, and be done with it. My current cb is sort of screwed up from the various things so, one side is short of the valance and the other is past.

I agree. I would do it right the first time with a full catback instead of piecing it together.

Mac all installed, surprised how much quieter it is down low. I need to do some adjusting to rid myself of a rattle but it does sound great.
