Default Most reasonable way to build CMC Mustang GT?

I am trying to find a 94-95 Mustang Cobra, 5.0L
or a 95-98 4.6L GT. My idea is to build a comparable car to a CMC Mustang Road Racer. Car will be used 90% daily driver, need to be compliant enough for taking wife and kids but would "perform" on the track / HPDE and some light road racing. Where the Heck were the 94-95 Mustang Cobra 5.0L engines made, block, etc? USA or Italy, Teksid? I understand that the 96-98 4.6L engines were made in Italy by Teksid, I would have thought they were USA made. Anyways. Are the regular 5.0L 94-95 engines made in USA, block etc? Please list minimum to compete in the CMC. Do I use stock wheels, better tires, Baer 13 inch or is it 12 inch front brakes with decent shocks, springs, sway bars, upper struts mounts, maybe steeda? Thanks, Ger.

First thing is first....my suggestion is to go with a 98 Cobra 4v......teksid block. The rest you're on your own.

I'm almost positive you are not going to build a CMC car that can be driven on the road. An HPDE or time trial car yes. your best bet is to go to a NASA event and see what it takes to compete but you are not going to get to do door to door racing right off the bat.

My suggetion to you is to go to a HPDE with how your car is now before you go dumping $ into it not even knowing what it takes to be competitive
Only the 94/98 (some 99's) 4.6 4V blocks were made by Teksid in Italy

^ What he said. OP, you might not know this, but wheel to wheel racing such as CMC requires a full roll cage (with door bars), fixed seats (no sliders or reclining mechanism), removal of airbags, and replacement of the stock seat belts with racing harnesses. These kinds of things are illegal for the road in many states, but even if you live in a place where there's no inspection, roll cages with door bars make getting in and out of the car a pain. Plus, with the power limits that CMC has, you couldn't build a competitive car without stripping the interior for weight reduction. But, aside from that, there's nothing terribly extreme about building a CMC Mustang if you're starting with a Cobra. The suspension and power mods are fairly mild compared to what's possible.

That said, what's your experience level with driving on a road course? And do you already have a Mustang? It's almost always cheapest to start with what you have. I would go to a NASA event and talk to some of the racers and see what it's all about.

P.S. - I suggest you check out the CMC rules and sign up for their forum
